The Story of Wookey Hole Circus

The story of Wookey Hole Circus begins with legendary British circus showman Gerry Cottle, one of the UK's most celebrated circus owners and entertainers. After purchasing Wookey Hole in 2003, Gerry brought his passion for live performance and family entertainment to the attraction, establishing the Wookey Hole Circus School and helping create the spectacular theatre shows visitors enjoy today.

His vision was to combine the wonder of Wookey Hole's ancient caves and legendary stories with the excitement, creativity and magic of the circus. Over the years, countless performers have trained at Wookey Hole, with many going on to appear in its live productions and shows.

Following Gerry's passing in 2020, his legacy continues through the performers, productions and opportunities that remain at the heart of Wookey Hole Circus.

It all starts with a FREE trial session, giving you the opportunity to see what it's all about and discover whether circus is right for you. From there, performers can develop their skills, gain experience and even progress to appearing in Wookey Hole Circus productions.
