Senior Finance Manager

Full time position
Reporting directly to the Managing Director

What you need to succeed in this role;

A qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA or equivalent) with financial management experience

Commercially focussed individual with excellent analytical thinking

A ‘roll your sleeves up’ attitude with strong IT skills

Responsibilities 

  • Preparation and reporting of monthly management accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet and other financial statements to tight deadlines
  • Ensure day to day smooth running of the finance department
  • Manage finance team including setting objectives/goals, annual performance reviews and developing staff skills
  • Daily cash management ensuring sufficient funds are available and managing supplier payments within agreed terms
  • Preparation and monitoring of cash flow forecasts
  • Preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Liaising with business managers to understand business changes
  • Production of agreed KPIs and report trends to the Managing Director
  • Preparation of year-end statutory accounts complying with UK accounting standards
  • To be the key contact for external auditors on site during year-end audit and maintain relationships
  • Ensure financial processes and controls are up to date and adequate for the business
  • Ensure the accuracy of stock management systems and manage periodic stock checks
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT return and ensure compliance with statutory bodies such as HMRC
  • Manage and prepare weekly/monthly payroll including pensions and PAYE
  • Maintain employee records and perform HR duties such as contract changes, starters and leavers and disciplinary procedures
  • To be the key contact for day to day banking requirements and maintain relationships with corporate banking representatives
  • Monitor bank covenant ratios and report changes to the Managing Director
  • Attend quarterly bank performance review meetings alongside the Managing Director, if required
  • Undertake annual insurance and utility provider reviews and present analysis and recommendations to the Managing Director
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as requested by the Managing Director
  • Maintain and develop systems alongside the ICT manager
  • Take a proactive approach in site activities and identify areas for improvement
  • Contribute towards strategic planning alongside the Managing Director
  • Take the lead role for health & safety compliance and ensure the site meets current HSE regulations
