Wookey
Hole has the biggest collection of original Edwardian
Penny Arcade machines in the country, and visitors
can play them with real old pennies!
Take
yourself back to the heyday of the Great British
Seaside Holiday!
Simply
change your money at the kiosk, and well
provide you with a pocketful of pre-decimalisation
pennies to use on any of the machines.

Postcard
from Letty Jenkins to Edith Spooner, 18th
August 1910:
"Really
lovely here - am writing this on the pier
with lights just coming on, ever so pretty
and people still on the beach. Joe and me
have been playing the machines - theres
a Folies Bergere one thats really
awful, Joe spent six pence on it. I shot
six black cats and he tested his grip -
it says hes got the grip of a Plumber
which is about right! Theres a professor
here who rides a bike off the end of the
pier (honest) and Ive just had my
fortune told as well as my weight - I turned
the dial to Will I Regret My Marriage,
and Joe said too late anyway..."
